Hey guys! So today’s post is going to be about high school, focusing on freshman year! Just to be clear though, there are so many movies, TV shows, books, and more, that depict high school as a fun, social, and easy-going lifestyle full of drama, boys, friends, parties, drinking, and much more. But in the real world? Not at all. I’d say freshman year is one of the easiest years, but also it’s extremely important if you’re one of those high-achieving students who want a good base to begin their high school career. The transition from middle school to high school is huge, if I’m being honest, and some may take that change negatively or positively (you should definitely take it positively though :), because you enter a world of freedom, as there are multiple clubs you get to join in high school, activities, sports, extracurriculars, marching band, socials, starting or becoming an officer of a club, and so much more! Of course, you are offered these opportunities in middle school, but there’s a wider variety when it comes to high school. In addition, the GPA or grade-point average system comes into play as well as ranks (depending on your high school). Basically, GPA is like someone giving you a number based on your intellect. Kind of. It’s just to see how good you are at the courses you take, either on-level, advanced, AP, or IB, and how well you can manage your other classes as well, including core and elective. Then, based on your GPA and the number of people in your graduating class, you are organized into ranks; if you’re first, you’re valedictorian, and if you’re second, then you’re salutatorian, and after that comes 3rd rank, 4th, 5th and so on. If you’re aiming for an Ivy League college, you’re bound to have a good rank in school and/or a high GPA, as well as strong extracurriculars. I’ll get into that some other time though. My advice? STAY ON TOP OF YOUR WORK, seriously, don’t procrastinate it’s not going to get you anywhere. As long as you get into a good routine and studying system that works for you as early as possible, you will definitely excel throughout high school. Try whatever you want freshman year, and make sure to enjoy it! Join clubs you might like, if you’re interested in marching band or choir or any sport, you should try them out! As long as you maintain good grades throughout the year and have a set schedule, I promise you, freshman year isn’t as scary as you think. (just stay out of drama yk) Ok byeee 🙂
